About
A close-knit team, united by one mission—to revolutionise proactive health screening.
At Whole Body MRI™, we exist to offer confidence and peace of mind through early detection and precision. Using the most advanced MRI technology, guided by world-leading radiologists, we provide clarity and proactive solutions that empower you to take control of your health.
Born from over a decade of scientific and clinical collaboration, Whole Body MRI™ was developed to solve a fundamental issue in medical imaging: the need for accuracy and precision in full-body screening. Leveraging our expertise, we’re the only provider worldwide offering flawless in-line geometric correction on 3T MRI Diffusion Weighted Imaging (DWI)—the cornerstone of cancer screening.
In a world where personalised service and tailored experiences are the norm, why should healthcare be any different? At Whole Body MRI™, we believe that your health deserves the same level of care and attention as any other important aspect of your life. Our approach goes beyond one-size-fits-all solutions, offering advanced screening that prioritises your individual needs and well-being.

“For those seeking a proactive approach to their health, our elective full-body MRI screening offers an extensive evaluation of your health status. This screening can detect various diseases, including some cancers, often before symptoms manifest. It provides a crucial baseline assessment, allowing for early intervention if needed.”

Our People
Dr Zane Sherif
Dr Zane Sherif is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiology (RANZCR), with specialised training in emergency medicine and spinal orthopaedics. After nearly a decade working within private radiology, Dr Sherif co-founded MBR Health (formerly Mermaid Beach Radiology), with the vision of providing the most advanced imaging in Australian private practice. An unapologetic tech enthusiast, he surrounds himself and his team with the most cutting-edge radiology equipment on the market, pushing the boundaries of innovation.
Dr Sherif has many publications in the field of radiology and has presented at scientific symposiums both in Australia and abroad. He is the principal investigator on numerous ongoing research projects including evaluating the novel DWI application in 3T full-body MRI.
Dr. Sherif and MBR Health regularly host educational events for medical professionals, where he shares insights on his areas of special interest, including dose-reduction techniques, Spectral CT, spinal imaging, and advanced regenerative and preventative medicine with a focus on whole-body MRI.
Mr Ben Kennedy
Ben is a director and co-founder of Whole Body MRI™, bringing his expertise in MRI physics, sequence development, and clinical applications to the forefront of the industry. He has a Master’s Degree in MRI from the University of Queensland and multiple publications through his long term role as Adjunct Researcher at Griffith University.
His main specialty is in translation of research applications into the evolving clinical MRI field. He is frequently invited to speak and has presented at national and international scientific meetings and workshops, including ISMRM, ISMRT, ESMRMB, ESHNR, AOCNR, SGCR, RANZCR, QHSS and ASMIRT, where he shares his knowledge on MRI physics, sequence optimisation, and clinical imaging. Ben has presented on many topics including MRI physics for technologists and physicians, sequence parameter optimisation, advanced MRI of nerves and MRI applications in musculoskeletal, abdominal, cardiac, spine, full-body and quantitative MRI.
Ben is dedicated to education and mentorship, contributing to MRI training programmes for organisations like the ISMRT, Philips Healthcare and Griffith University. He is a Fellow and Past President of the International Society for MR Radiographers and Technologists (ISMRT) and currently serves as Chair of the ISMRT MRI Safety Committee. In 2016, Ben received the Crues Kressel Award, a prestigious recognition given by the ISMRT for outstanding contributions to the education of technologists/ radiographers. His contributions to clinical advancement in the full-body application of DWI at 3T was recognised globally when his awarded proffered paper was presented at ISMRM/ISMRT London in 2022.
Additionally, Ben has played an active role in organising MRI education meetings for ISMRT across Australia, the USA, Sweden, Italy, Germany, New Zealand, Canada, and South-East Asia. He has had clinical consultancies spanning Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and New Zealand.
Ben has multiple collaborations including Philips Healthcare, Synthetic MR, Cor Techs and Griffith University. He is the principal investigator for a Clinical Sciences partnership with Philips Healthcare since 2012 where he co-develops innovations for improving existing technologies as well as creating new ones in translation for research into the clinical field such as the latest advancements in the whole Body DWIBS at 3T with inline distortion correction.
Quantitative MRI is a main focus for the future and Ben’s valuable partnerships with Griffith University, Synthetic MR and Cor Techs to further develop their current and future technologies are integral contributions to the full-body MRI comprehensive approach and further quantitative possibilities as this technology keeps evolving.
Our Story
Whole Body MRI™ was created to challenge 'good enough' in medical imaging. We believe health and longevity deserve the ultimate advantage: clarity through advanced technology and elevated care.
MBR Health (formerly Mermaid Beach Radiology) was founded in 2021 by Dr. Zane Sherif and his wife, Dr. Kirralee Sherif, after Zane became disillusioned with the limitations imposed by commercial pressures in his previous roles. While private healthcare is undeniably a business, Zane found it unacceptable that other industries offer a range of quality choices—yet in radiology, there’s a misconception that all imaging is the same. The truth is, just as with any medical field, the expertise of the practitioner and the quality of the equipment make all the difference.
MBR Health was established to break this mould, offering state-of-the-art imaging technology in an environment designed for both precision and patient comfort. Under the leadership of MRI technologist Ben Kennedy, the practice has achieved several world-first advancements, particularly in CT and MRI imaging. One of the most notable achievements has been the elimination of distortion in the crucial cancer detection sequence on advanced 3T MRI platforms. This innovation has led to the creation of the world’s most precise WB-MRI cancer screening tool—Whole Body MRI™.
